We’re pleased to announce the launch of a new Masterdisk website! New pages and features will be added in the days and weeks ahead, but for now the heart of the website is the engineer profile pages, including selected discographies that allow for listening on Spotify, or linking to iTunes. We hope you enjoy it.
It’s been a crazy week here in New York in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The Masterdisk studios, our engineers, and the members of our business team all came out alright, thankfully. Our hearts go out to the many New Yorkers who were hit harder by the storm — many of whom are still struggling.
I’m happy to report that after a few dark days, the welcome sound of great music is once again radiating from all of our mastering rooms. We’re a little behind, but our engineers and staff are working extra hours to make sure all of our clients meet any deadlines they might have. We should be fully caught up and back on our usual schedule by end-of-day, Thursday, November 1.
Though our phones are down, please continue to contact us by email. If you have a mastering deadline you need met, please let us know. We’ll be working through the weekend to make sure you get the same service you’re used to from us year-round.
Thanks for your support. — The Masterdisk Team
Veteran mastering engineer Vlado Meller has joined the Masterdisk team at our 45th street studios.Scott Hull, the owner of Masterdisk, is pleased to welcome Vlado into the Masterdisk family. “Vlado’s a great engineer and he’s going to be a tremendous asset to the studio,” Scott said.
Vlado said, “I’m excited about joining forces with the legendary Masterdisk studios and I look forward to many years of success with the team.”
Anyone who has worked with Vlado in the past will be pleased to know that he brings his assistant engineer Mark Santangelo and booking manager Peter Cho into his new position. The three have worked as a team together for ten years.
Since the early 1970’s many of the world’s most famous music artists have entrusted their music to Masterdisk. We’ve mastered records for Bruce Springsteen, Nirvana, Prince, U2 and thousands more. Today we work with major label artists like Jay-Z, Spoon and Dave Mathews, independent music of all genres, and international sensations from Greenland to South Africa every day. And now we’re going to tell you all about it.
Welcome to The Masterdisk Record.
We have six mastering rooms in our NYC headquarters. That means there are a lot of very interesting people coming through our doors on a daily basis. Many of them have unique music, ideas, and visions for the music business. We are a community, always concerned, listening and discussing the future of the recording industry. Contrary to how many people currently view things, this is actually a very interesting time to be a recording artist. I find it ironic that while traditional opportunities are getting scarce, new and very exciting opportunities are on the horizon.
I hope this blog will give you some insight into what we do and what we think about the way the music business is going. And I hope we can shed a little light on what’s coming up next.
We’ll be adding features regularly so bookmark us and come back often!
