Chief Engineer Andy VanDette is the go-to mastering engineer for many of today’s greatest artists. From prog-rock greats like Rush to iconic musicians like David Bowie, high-profile projects like the Spider-Man Cast Recording to contemporary rock like Needtobreathe and Atomic Tom, Andy can, and does, do it all.

Like many Masterdisk engineers, Andy VanDette started out as an intern (summer of 1984) supporting Masterdisk's top engineers. Beginning with digital editing and vinyl cutting, he learned the art of mastering from the best. His technical abilities helped him adapt to the individual style of each engineer, and the ever changing demands of the industry.

As a classically trained musician and a “band guy” for many years, Andy draws on his musical background as well as his twenty-five-plus years of mastering experience for direction. The key to Andy’s success is his ability to listen closely to his clients, to understand their creative vision, and then to exceed their expectations.
