Matt Shane is a Grammy Award winning recording engineer (the Flight of the Conchords EP The Distant Future), mix engineer and producer in addition to his mastering. I have been making recordings since I was a little kid with a fisher-price tape recorder and a mic. I can remember spinning my dad's records when I was home alone, and always being the member of the band who figured out how to make the band's demo. I love music... and I do not limit myself to any one part of the recording/mixing/mastering process. I continually record, mix, and produce bands; as well as of course mastering their albums. I won a Grammy in 2007 for engineering the Flight of the Conchords EP, The Distant Future.  

For me, the song is king and as a mastering engineer I feel I am there to help deliver your vision and message as clearly as possible. If you want to sit around and talk about bits, mp3 compression formats or fractions of percents of harmonic distortion then I may not be the engineer for you, but if you want to talk about amazing records that make the hair on the back of your neck stand up then we will make a good team.  

That's the quest for me. Music is alive and when done really well can awaken something deep inside us. I believe as a mastering engineer it is my job to help the music best translate across all platforms to the listener and make it sound as musical and accurate as possible to the artist's vision. At the end of the day I want you to love your record, I want you to be able to tell everyone how happy you are with the finished product. There's no point in putting something out that you don't stand behind 100%. So I will use my ears and experience, as well as the tools available to me at Masterdisk, to deliver the best sounding master to you possible.
