Once There Was A Boy

I have danced in clouds and run through fields of flowers

And hunted the speckled egg

As evening falls, my mother calls

Once there was a boy

I’ve got a compass in my shoe, tiger footprints too

And a jam jar held with string

in the brook I wade, with a fishing net I made

Once there was a boy

And when the day is done

And the sun becomes the moon

Little boys are all called home

But it always seemed too soon

On a big rope we will swing, and then go blackberrying

Till I hear my mother call

But Mom I cried, it’s still light outside

And hunted the speckled egg
As evening falls, my mother calls
Once there was a boy

I’ve got a compass in my shoe, tiger footprints too
And a jam jar held with string
in the brook I wade, with a fishing net I made
Once there was a boy

And when the day is done
And the sun becomes the moon
Little boys are all called home
But it always seemed too soon
