Serge Espitia is a recording engineer/music business entrepreneur based out of New York City and New Jersey. A Mexico City Native, Serge moved to the United States in 2007 and launched his career in the music and entertainment industry. In 2009, Serge graduated from Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts where he earned a certificate in Music Production and Audio Engineering. During his time at CDIA, Serge worked at Boston’s prestigious Blue Jay Recording and Cybersound Studios.
In late 2009, Serge moved to New York City, where he immediately started collaborating with some of New York’s finest recording studios such as East Side Sound and Stratosphere Sound.During his time at Stratosphere Sound, Serge immersed himself in the world of audio by working for notable musicians and Stratosphere owners James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), and Andy Chase (Ivy).
During this time, Serge also had the opportunity to work and assist for some of the world’s finest producers and engineers such as Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T-Rex), Rudyard Lee Cullers (Ryan Adams, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and Ian Dench (Epic Records- EMF).
In 2011, Serge founded Tiny Thunder Audio, Inc., a professional recording studio based out of Brooklyn New York, where he provided recording and mixing services to clients from all over the world. As an engineer, Serge has worked for artists such as Sean C & LV (Jay Z, Linkin Park), Branko (Buraka Som Sistema), Jahdan Blakkamoore (Snoop Dog) and James Atkin (EMF) to name a few. As far as post-production, Serge has collaborated with companies such as Tidepool Films (The Best Bar in America) and Nissan. Serge has also been involved in theme productions for Broadway’s “Gazillion Bubble Show” as well as for the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) (“Hockey Bird” 2012 World Championship’s official theme).
As a consultant, Serge has provided a wide variety of services for numerous clients. From studio design and integration to overseeing the operations and production process of a vinyl pressing plant in Kenilworth, New Jersey, Serge has been involved in every single step of the creative process.
As a producer, Serge’s main goal has always been to stay current and versatile. He works with a wide variety of musical artists in projects that span from singer/songwriter to death metal. When not in the studio, Serge likes to give lectures and workshops for different audio programs on the East Coast. In previous years, Serge has been invited by New York’s SAE on several occasions to talk about the current state of the music industry. Serge currently resides in New Jersey with his wife Julia and their two puggles Iggy Pop and Gia.
